Panama to start planting genetically modified corn

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Panama will start cultivating genetically modified corn in August this year.

Authorities made it clear that the corn will only be used for animal feed, and initially the only authorized growers will be in the Azuero region.

The farmers will start by planting 2,500 bags of corn, which will be imported by Empresas Melo.
