Panama tourism surges 5.2 percent in first half

Panama's tourism industry is growing rapidly. During the first half of the year, Panama received 1.7 million visitors, about 5.1 percent more than in the same period of last year.

Income from tourism came to $1.1 billion, an increase of $188 million on last year.

Hotel occupancy rates are going at 60 percent, though 63 percent for those of five stars.
