Panama will be base for Philips in Latin America

Philips Electronics, headquartered in Holland, will base its Latin American offices in Panama, President Ricardo Martinelli said.

Martinelli, who is visiting Europe, didn't give further details in terms of the investment, only that it would create hundreds of jobs.

"We have been called by some the 'Switzerland of Latin America', thanks to our safety, excellent business climate and opportunities," he added.
