Projects in Panama and Guatemala light up region

Two multi-million-dollar projects, one in Guatemala and the other in Panama, promise to improve the supply and costs of electricity, two issues about which ordinary people and companies often complain.

In Panama, a $600 million interconnection project with Colombia will soon be under construction. Colombia has lots of cheap electricity which Panama's growing economy needs.

Meanwhile, Guatemala announced investments of up to $400 million towards hydroelectric, geothermal and coal projects.
