Projects valued at $2.8 billion frozen in Honduras

Business leader in Honduras are appealing to the courts and the government to support mining and hydroelectric projects have have been frozen by protests in several regions.

Gustavo Solórzano, chief legal adviser of the private organization Cohep, reckons that some $2.8 billion in projects have been delayed bye the protests.

"We're not against demonstrations and protest. These are part of our Constitution, so long as they are peaceful," he said. "But we are firmly opposed to the violence that many people are perpetrating."
