Region: Chinese cars

Monday, October 22, 2012

Chinese products of all kinds have in recent years made big inroads into Central American market.

Now, cars are getting their turn, especially in Costa Rica, with which China has a free trade agreement. But even in countries without the benefits of a trade deal, Chinese vehicles will in many cases be competitive.

A concern among buyers is the reliability of a brand and – even more basic – the issue of whether or not a particular producer will even exist in a few years. But while several Chinese car companies came and went during the last decade of the 20th century, producers have since become more stable.

Chinese car companies, which have already entered the regional market include Geely, JMC, Brilliance y ZAP 4 and BYD.
