Region is second largest receiver of remittances

Central America receives 24 percent of the $61.2 billion remittances sent to Latin America, the Inter-American Development Bank said.

Forty-seven percent of the total goes to the Pacific Alliance countries: Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru.

Central America, Belize and Panama come in second place in the region in receiving remittances, the bank added.
