Region: value-added coffee

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Central America has benefitted from high coffee prices during the past year. The creation of specialized products would produce returns, which are even higher.

Last week, a group of Honduran growers entered into an alliance with Thrive, a United States-based organization, which connects small, high-quality producers of Arabica beans with foreign buyers, including services, which range from support for roasting and processing, to marketing and export sales.

Investors, along with growers, would benefit from an increase in the value of Central American coffee, through services of this kind, along with the promotion of specific coffee-growing regions, and even individual brands.
