Remittances from El Salvador rise to $1.48 billion in first five months

Remittances to the United States sent from emigrants to El Salvador were $1.48 billion in the first five months of this year, an increase by 2.6 percent compared with the same period ofm last year.

In May alone, the invoices increased by 6.1 percent year-on-year after three months in succession.

Remittances are the main basis of El Salvador’s economy.
