Remittances to El Salvador rise by 4.4 percent in April but growth is still weak

Remittances from El Salvador’s emigrants to the United States grew by 4.4 percent year on year in April.

The remittances are the major support of the country’s economy. In April, they came to $309 million.

The Central Bank said that the growth in the remittances remains modest as a result of continued unemployment in the United States.
