Remittances to Guatemala reach record in May

Remittances to Guatemala reached a record $494 million in May, the highest figure for that month since 2012, the country's central bank reported.

The figure for may is attributed to the celebration of Mother's Day.

During the first five months of the year, Guatemala has received $2.2 billion in remittances, compared with the $2 billion for the same period last year.
