Remittances to Guatemala up almost 5 percent

Guatemala received 4.8 percent more remittances in the first eight months of the year, compared to the same period a year before, according to the Bank of Guatemala.
The figure means Guatemalans received $3.38 billion from abroad, mainly the United States.
In 2012, Guatemalans received $4.78 billion worth of remittances, and this year the government expects the figure to surpass $5 billion.
