Remittances to Honduras boom as Trump settle into White House

As soon as Donald Trump took office in the United States, and even before, much of Central America was on edge. Not least the millions who receive remittances from the region’s emigrants, the vast majority of them based in the US.
 
Honduras, which netted $4.2 billion in remittances, is one of the most affected. In January, the nervousness was reflected in an 11 percent increase in the amount that the nation’s emigrants sent back home.
