Resounding victory for Carlos Alvarado en Costa Rica run-off vote

Carlos Alvarado won a resounding victory in the run-off for the Costa Rican presidential election.

He won with 1.2 million votes, some 60 percent of the total.

The comfortable victory of the candidate of the ruling Citizens' Action Party came as a huge surprise for the pollsters who had expected a much stronger showing for Fabricio Alvarado (no relation to Carlos), the candidate of Moral Restoration.
