Every year, 60 percent of farm output in Panama is lost after harvest, due to poor crop management and bad conditions on rural roads.
Losses after the harvest are reckoned to be $16 million a year.

Reality fails to match the government’s ambitious plans for the establishment of a cold chain to service markets in farm products.
