Six bids for $500 million power transmission line in Panama

Two individual companies and four consortiums have made six offers for the construction of a $500 million power transmission line to be built for Panama's state company, Etesa.

The line, which will run along the nation's Caribbean watershed, is due to be operational by 2023 at the latest. Capacity is to be 1,280 kilowatts.
Companies that have shown interest in the project include Spain's Abengoa, China Electric and Canada's Manitoba Hydro.
