Slim in billion-dollar Mexican natural gas auctions

Wednesday, June 28, 2017

When it comes to venturing into new fields, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helú doesn't give up easily. After his Carso Oil & Gas failed to win a government contract for oil exploration two years ago, the company controlled by Slim is now competing in Round Two of oil and gas auctions, Mexico's National Hydrocarbons Commission said last week.

The bidding for 14 fields of primarily "wet gas" in the Burgos Basin, where Mexico's largest gas reserves are located, is scheduled for July 12.
