Thursday, November 3, 2011

Spain’s Acciona Energía has moved into Costa Rica’s renewable energy market with the construction and operation of its first wind farm. The 49.5-megawatt facility required an investment of $125 million.

Acciona won a tender from the state power utility, ICE. Its partner in the tender was Grupo Ecoenergia, a local company.

Construction of the wind farm is due to begin early next year. Operation is due to begin by the end of 2013.
