Spanish insurer Mapfre complaints about Costa Rica’s Instituto Nacional de Seguros

The removal of the state monopoly over Costa Rica’s insurance market has sparked the first brushes among the competitors.

Spain’s Mapfre has accused the state-owned Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS) for alleged unfair trade practices in marketing for auto insurance.

The INS is reported to have established a policy of “not one client to be lost”.
