Friday, January 20, 2012

Thousands of workers employed by the mult-billion dollar project to broaden the Panama Canal are on their fourth day of a strike to demand higher wages.

Peace talks are underway with the government, but no settlement has been reached.

The workers are employed by a consortium led by the Spanish company Sacyr Vallehermoso, which is building new locks that representgs the lion's share of the $5.25 billion investment in the overall project.
