Sysco takes full ownership of big Costa Rica food distributor

US foodservice giant Sysco Corporation announced Monday that it has acquired the remaining 50 percent of Costa Rica food distributor Mayca Distribuidores for an undisclosed amount of cash.

“Increasing our international presence has been a large part of our strategy in recent years, and the success and growth we have seen in Costa Rica are great examples of our strategy at work,” Scott Sonnemaker, senior VP of international foodservice operations, Americas, for the Houston-based $55 billion foodservice giant, said.
