Technical bid key to victory for FCC and Odebrecht
Thursday, October 28, 2010
The Linea 1 consortium formed by Spain’s FCC and Brazil’s Odebrecht was awarded a $1.45 billion contract by the government to build the first line of the Panama City metro. But Linea 1 was beaten on price by its sole rival.
The Spanish-Brazilian consortium won with a score of 917 points for its technical and economic presentation, beating out Grupo Italiano Metro Panama, which only accumulated 708 points.
The winning bid came in just above the $1.4 billion offer made by the Italian group, which was made up of Impregilo, Astaldi and Ghella.
