Ticos are the happiest people in Latin America

Costa Rica leads happiness ranking since 2012

In 13th place globally, Costa Rica is the happiest country in Latin America for the sixth year in a row, according to the 2017 World Happiness Report.

Mexico in 24th position is second in the continent, while Panama in 27th place globally, is second in Central America.

Finland in 2017 displaced Denmark as the world’s happiest country, while Burundi is the least happy.

The report considers factors such as economic strength measured in GDP per capita, social support, life expectancy, freedom of choice, generosity, and perceived corruption in 156 countries (numbers in brackets indicate the global position of each nation).
