Friday, October 21, 2011

The storms that ravaged Central America will cost millions of dollars to the tourism industry, a sector that represents 8 percent of the region's economy.

"There have been major losses amounting to millions of dollars," said José Napoleón Duarte, head of the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency.

"Tourism has been one of the hardest-hit sectors," added Nelly Jerez, the Honduran tourism minister, who is visiting Panama for the Annual Central American Travel Market.
