Trump signs 'Nica Act' to tighten screw on Nicaragua

Donald Trump signed the "Nica Act" that restricts the access of Nicaragua to international credits and establisheds sanctions on prominent members of the government.

The Florida Republican Mario Diaz-Balart, a leading supporter of the legislation, said it would support the people of Nicaragua "in their demand for the rule of law, free elections and deny access to resources for their repressors."

Trump signed the act following the expulsion of international experts who had been investigating allegations of human-rights violations.
