UN commission urges more equality in economy

Thursday, February 14, 2013

The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, known as Eclac, warned Latin America about economic growth, as the region is still "vulnerable".

Eclac also suggested that countries in the region should change their policies and structures regarding equality.

"We must be very careful, it's one thing for Latin America to grow, but it's important to understand why it's growing, and in terms of sustainability and development, it's not growing for the right reasons", said Alicia Bárcena, chief secretary of Eclac.
