United States donates $2 million for Better Work labor program in Nicaragua

Holda Solís, the US Labor Secretary, announced a $2 million donation to support the Better Work program in Nicaragua. The program links labor laws with opportunities in international trade.

According to the US Labor Department, Better Work is a very successful strategy that was initially developed in Cambodia 10 years ago.

Solís said that, with the program, “Nicaragua joins countries that accept a gold standard in respect of labor rights in the textile and garment industries.”
