US trade with neighbors lowest in five years

Container cargo trade between the United States on the one hand and the Caribbean and Central America on the other, declined for the first time since 2014 during the first nine months of 2019. Through September, total US-Caribbean/Central America container volumes slipped 0.4 percent to 2.37 million TEU compared with the same 2018 period, the Journal of Commerce reports.
