Violent protests halt Tahoe mine in Guatemala

A series of violent protests have slowed down the construction of the Escobal silver mine in Guatemala.

Canada's Tahoe Resources, the company developing the mine, said it hopes work will resume late this week.

The protests started in early April this year, when Tahoe announced it was given permission to build the mine.
