Volaris Costa Rica is awaiting approval for US flights

The Costa Rica-based subsidiary of low-cost Mexican airline Volaris has applied for a foreign air carrier permit and exemption to start U.S. flights, regulatory filings show.

Vuela Aviacion, which flies under the name Volaris Costa Rica, said it intends to start U.S. flights around September from its base in San Jose, Costa Rica.
