Wal-Mart de México brings Central American store count to 532 through acquisition

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Wal-Mart of Mexico reported a smaller-than-expected increase in its third-quarter net profit, while revenue surged thanks to the acquisition earlier this year of stores in Central America.

Walmex, as the company is known, said its net profit rose 10 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier, to $341.4 million.

Walmex's total revenue rose 27 percent, largely a result of its takeover in Central America where it now has 532 stores.
