Washington donates $4.4 million to storm reconstruction in Guatemala

The United States will donate $4.4 million for reconstruction of pulblic works damaged by rain in Guatemala, the US embassy announced.

President Álvaro Colom estimates that the losses for the recent floods amount to some $500 million.

Colom has asked his Congress to approve an extraordinary spending program to confront the emergency.
