Water sanitation is a major challenge facing Costa Rica

Monday, April 1, 2019

Increasing the coverage of water sanitation services represents a major challenge to Costa Rica. While 93 percent of the homes have potable water, only 15 percent have sewerage treatment systems.

Government institutions have identified projects to remedy the problem by 2015.

If the nation achieved these goals by that time, about half of the population will have access to waste-water treatment systems, La República reports in Spanish.
