Zuckerberg rolls out Colombia Internet plan

Thursday, January 15, 2015

Facebook Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a plan to offer free Internet service in Colombia, a new step in his Internet.org effort to broaden global Web access.

As part of a trip to Bogota, Zuckerberg held his first international question-and-answer session today at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.

At an event with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, Zuckerberg said customers of local telecommunications operator Tigo will have free access to the Internet.org app, including a group of global and local sites that let users find information on health, education, finance, employment and weather.
