Abbot wins Costa Rican top export award

Abbott, the global manufacturer of medical devices, was awarded the Gran Premio of Costa Rican exporters at an event of the Chamber of Exporters.

In recent years, the export sector has grown rapidly and has considerably eased the difficulties of the nation's economy. On average, Costa Rica exports almost $19 billion a year.

"We represent 34 percent of Costa Rica's GDP and we know we are a key sector of the country's economy," said Laura Bonilla, president of the Chamber.
