Adidas and Nike join forces to seek peace in Nicaragua

World leaders in the world's fashion and garment industries — including Adidas, Gap, Under Armour, Patagonia, New Balance and Nike — have asked the Nicaraguan government of Daniel Ortega to respect the rule of law and halt the violence generated by the country's political and economic crisis.

The companies say the violence is severely affecting their operations in Nicaragua, and it has severely affected the incomes and civil rights of their employees.

In a message to Ortega, the companies have pleaded with him to return to peace talks with the opposition in order to resolve the crisis.
