Amid worst crisis in years, Nicaragua to face IMF test

Monday 15 October, 2018

Before the end of this month, a team from the International Monetary Fund is to arrive information and collect information on the current state of the economy.

The government authorities are aiming to prepare for the visit by having meetings with Fund executives at the annual meeting in Bali of the Fund and the World Bank. They will also be meeting with ratings agencies that have slashed Nicaragua's outlook as a result of the country's severe policial and economic crisis.

Nicaragua has to face the Fund's Article IV, an annual test that all members have to face in order to evaluate the health of the respective economies and the risks that they might face in the future.
