Aviation boosts Costa Rican economy by $1.4 billion

Friday 19 October, 2018

Despite all the benefits that aviation has contributed to Costa Rica, including the arrival of European airlines and a substantial increase in the number of passengers, the country still needs to work on what could well emerge as shortcomings in the future.

The challenges include the transparency and participation of the sector in the development of infrastructure throughout Central America, keeping down costs and the efficient management of airports.

In addition, regulations have to be updated along the lines of global best practice and in keeping with an industry that contributes $1.4 billion to GDP.
