Business chiefs urge reactivation of Costa Rican economy

Thursday 06 December, 2018

Now that legislators in Costa Rica have given the green light for the government's fiscal reform, efforts to reactivate the economy, including a boost in state sector efficiency are vital to ensure that the cuts and increased taxes really do reduce the deficit.

Business leaders say that the reactivation will require improvements to infrastructure, and reductions in red tape and electricity bills. In addition, more reforms have to be made in order to close institutions that merely duplicate functions.

The government itself recognizes that it should follow the recommunications of the business community.
