Costa Rica has the best passport

With the possibility of traveling to 121 countries without a visa, Costa Rica has the best passport in Central America, the fifth best in Latin America and number 28 worldwide, followed by Panama, in 32d place, according to the Arton Capital’s 2017 Passport Index.

A Nicaraguan passport, worst in the Isthmus in global position 43, lets users avoid the need for a visa in 102 countries.

A passport from Germany, in first place globally, allows visa-free travel to 158 countries, compared to 23 for Afghanistan, last on the list.

The Index considers passports of 193 United Nations member countries and six territories: Taiwan, Macao, Hong Kong, Kosovo, Palestinian Territory, and the Vatican (numbers in brackets indicate worldwide position).
