Costa Rica must wait for new airport until 2026

Monday 26 March, 2012

Plans are beginning to get underway for the replacement of Costa Rica's leading international airport, the Juan Santamaría, near the capital.

The new airport, however, will not be able to launch operations until 2026, when the contract of Aeris Holdings is due to expire as the operator of the Juan Santamaría.

The new airport is to have two runways, and is expected to handle 12 million passengers.
