Costa Rica's public transport gets a new look

By the end of this year, public transport in Costa Rica is to have a new look, with exclusive bus lanes of which some are already beginning to operate.

The aim is to reduce peak-hour travel, times are to be reduced from about 40 to only 10 minutes.

Officials say that they want car-owners to leave their vehicles at home while saving high costs of gasoline and parking.
The government says that at present people in Costa Rica spend $3,000 to $5,000 a year in efforts to evade traffic jams.
