Ficohsa acquires Banco Americano of Guatemala

The Honduran financial group Ficohsa agreed to acquire 90 percent of the stock of Guatemala-based Banco Americano.

The transaction is subject to approval by the Guatemalan banking regulator. Details of the transaction have not been released.

Ficohsa launched its international strategy with a representative office in the United States in 2001. Last year it launched operations in Panama.
