Honduras earns $3.6 billion in remittances so far this year

This year through September, Honduras received $3.6 billion in remittances from its emigrants. This amounts to 10 percent more than in the same period of last year.

Some 80 percent of the remittances come from the United States, where more than a million of Hondurans live.

Remittances amount to more than 18 percent of the nation's GDP. Last year they amounted to $4.3 billion, while this year the authorities have set a target of $4.6 billion.
