$1 billion export record set by Nicaraguan textile plants

Textile and garment factories in Nicaragua’s free zone set a $1.02 billion record in exports last year.

The previous record of $934 million was achieved in 2008.

For this year, the companies are hoping for 10 percent more growth in exports. Some 65,000 people work in Nicaragua’s garment and textile plants.
