$5 billion boost pledged by Central American bank

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) is to offer more than $5 billion in credits during the coming five years to reactivate the region’s economies.

 
Of the total of the funds to be allocated, El Salvador and Honduras will receive $1 billion each, Costa Rica $1.3 billion, Guatemala $918 million and Nicaragua $900 million.
 
Over the last five years, the bank disbursed credits for a total of $4.85 billion to companies and governments in the region.
