$6.4 billion Panama mine mired in conflict

The $6.4 billion Cobre Panama copper project is mired by a bitter labor dispute.
The company Minera Panama, a unit of Canada’s First Quantum Minerals, claims that members of the Suntracs trade union burst into the mine and stole property at the weekend. The union has countered by claiming that the mine employs workers illegally.
