'Only' 8.5 percent growth for Panama economy

Panama is set to see yet another year of solid economic growth, thanks to projects such as the Canal expansion and the capital city's Metro transport system.

For the last two years, the country has seen double-digit growth, such as last year's 10.7 percent.

This year, President Ricardo Martinelli expects the economy to grow some 8.5 percent, a figure thought to be conservative by the government.
