$1.6 billion remittances pumped into Honduras

Honduras received $1.6 billion of remittances in the first five months of the year from the nation’s emigrants, mainly those based in the US.

Remittances account for about 17 percent of the nation’s economy. Last year they amounted to some $3.7 billion.
