Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Methane gas from the trash dump of the Salvadoran municipality of Nejapa will be used to generate electricity at the AES Nejapa plan, which is expected to go on stream by next April.

The initial investment for AES Nejapa comes to $43 million. The investment includes rights to the methane contracted by Mides, the company that owns the trash dump.

The power plant will have a 6 megawatts capacity, rising to 24 megawatts later.
